Counselling ServicesWellElder Is a community trust providing specialist counselling for older Wellingtonians. We counsel individuals, couples or family/Whanau at our sentres in Newlands, Johnsonville, Paraparaumu and in clients homes or rest homes, if travel is difficult. All our counsellors are members of NZAC (New Zealand Association of Counsellors) and have a strong interest in older people. Who is eligible? Anyone over the age of 55 living in Wellington city and Kapiti may use this service. You can contact us directly or we accept referrals from GP's or another agencies. Counselling WellElder believes that we all face challenges as we age. We are never too old to learn new skills, change behaviour, grow in insight and understanding, or maintain good emotional health. Older people are used to getting on with life themselves, but a skilled professional is suprisingly easy to talk to and can help us to:
No issue is too big or too small - our relationships, the loss of friends and family, where we live, memories that we live with, coping with daily demands of life, anxiety or depression - whatever it is that we face can be brought to counselling. Sessions & Costs Sessions last 50-60 minutes and clients are eligible for up to 6 sessions. Further sessions may be available if needed. We ask for a contribution of $10.00 or more for each counselling session. If clients are unable or unwilling to meet this, our service is still availbale. We also welcome larger contributions, if clients wish to make them. Confidentiality All discussions with counsellors are confidential.Counsellors will pass on information to other people such as GP's or family members, only with the clients agreement. The exception to this is if there is significant risk of harm to the client or someone else. Contact us...
